Luxury Anguilla Travel Guide (2026): Best Hotels, Beaches & Restaurants
Last Updated: 16 March 2026
There is a certain kind of Caribbean island that announces itself loudly: airport billboards, all-inclusive drink packages, and beach vendors who will not leave you alone. And then there is Anguilla. Flat, quiet, and unhurried, the island does not ask for your attention — it simply waits.
We have placed dozens of clients here: honeymooners who needed seclusion, couples celebrating milestones, and discerning travelers tired of destinations that felt more branded than real. Without exception, they come back saying the same thing: Anguilla felt different in a way that mattered.
This guide draws on years of first-hand familiarity with the resorts, beaches, restaurants, and logistics of getting to and around the island. What follows is the most useful distillation we can offer.
Why Visit Anguilla: The Caribbean's Best-Kept Luxury Secret
Most Caribbean islands grow their reputations on volume: cruise ships, shopping promenades, and a hospitality industry oriented around the average tourist. Anguilla has, by design and by geography, resisted that trajectory. There are no casinos, no cruise terminals, and fewer than a dozen traffic lights on the entire island.
What the island has instead is a concentration of world-class resorts, including Four Seasons, Belmond, and Auberge, positioned along beaches that consistently rank among the finest in the Atlantic basin. The geography enforces this focus: Anguilla is a low-lying coral and limestone island with no volcanic peaks or jungle interior, so the terrain has no choice but to point you toward the water.
The water itself is the payoff. Protected by offshore reefs and positioned at the northern edge of the Leeward Islands, it is calm, warm, and extraordinarily clear. On a windless morning at Shoal Bay East, you can read a book in waist-deep water and watch angelfish pass beneath you without a mask.
Anguilla vs St. Barts: Which Is Right for You?
St. Barts carries a social intensity that Anguilla does not: prominent yacht culture, designer shopping, and a scene that rewards being seen. Anguilla operates on an entirely different register, where luxury is quieter and the resorts feel like private escapes rather than stage sets. For a honeymoon or anniversary trip, we lean toward Anguilla for its seclusion and beach quality.
How to Get to Anguilla from the US (Flights, Ferry & Charter)
The easiest way to get to Anguilla is to fly into Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) on the island. From the continental U.S., the most convenient option is to take a direct flight from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Anguilla on American Airlines. The flight time is around 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Another option if your home airport flies direct to St. Maarten (SXM), is to fly to SXM and take a 25-30 minute private or shared water taxi to Anguilla. This is what we did since Delta has direct flights ATL to SXM! Once arriving to Anguilla’s Blowing Point Ferry Terminal, you can take a taxi or private transfer to your hotel.
Best Luxury Hotels in Anguilla (2026)
Anguilla is home to many luxurious resorts, but here are the top five Virtuoso hotels that offer a truly exceptional experience:
1. Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla
The Four Seasons sits on 35 acres of beachfront at the junction of Meads Bay and Barnes Bay, with access to two beaches of notably different characters: one sheltered and glassy, one with a touch more energy. It operates at a scale smaller boutique properties cannot match: five dining outlets, three pools including an adults-only infinity pool, and a spa with 12 treatment rooms and open-air garden pavilions. For honeymooners who want brand reliability alongside genuine destination immersion, this is the most consistently executed luxury hotel in Anguilla.
Why We Recommend It:
Oceanfront One-Bedroom Suites: Private plunge pool faces the water directly; genuinely usable living space, not a gesture toward it
Penthouse Suites: Panoramic sweep of both bays at sunrise; earns the honeymoon suite title without the clichés
Adults-only infinity pool: Social center for couples in the late afternoon, with pool service executed with unhurried attentiveness
Experiences We Suggest:
Private Sunset Sail from Barnes Bay: Depart at 4:30 PM, anchor near Dog Island; clients consistently call this the defining memory of their trip
Bamboushay Spa Couples Ritual: Coconut milk soak into synchronized open-air massage; the 90-minute version justifies a later dinner
Private Beach Dining at Sunset: Table on the sand at Meads Bay with a personalized menu; not listed on the website and requires coordination through us
Virtuoso Perks When You Book Through Us: Daily breakfast for two, a $100 resort credit, a complimentary room upgrade subject to availability upon arrival, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability, and a welcome amenity from the property.
2. Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel, Anguilla
Cap Juluca occupies Maundays Bay, a half-moon crescent on Anguilla's southwestern shore, with villas arranged in a sequence of whitewashed domes and arches, a Moorish architectural vocabulary that feels absolutely correct rather than incongruous. Belmond acquired the property, which opened in 1988 as one of the Caribbean's most distinctive resorts, and layered in a service and culinary standard worthy of the brand. The result is a hotel that feels genuinely established: mature gardens, long-tenured staff, and a warmth that comes from real familiarity with the place. Note: Maundays Bay drops quickly and carries a gentle current; it is perfect for floating and evening walks but pair this resort with a morning at Shoal Bay East if shallow swimming is a priority.
Why We Recommend It:
Beachfront Pool Villas: Most private accommodations on Maundays Bay; walled garden, plunge pool, and direct beach access through a private gate
Junior Suites: Best sight line on the island looking down the full arc of the bay; most accessible entry point into the Cap Juluca experience
Pimms Restaurant tasting menu: Available for private dinners with advance notice; a culinary program several degrees more serious than a typical Caribbean resort
Experiences We Suggest:
Private Beachside Breakfast before 8 AM: Morning meal set on the sand at the far southern end of Maundays Bay before other guests are up
Belmond Spa Volcanic Stone Ritual: Two-hour treatment using the island's natural thermal materials; best scheduled the day of arrival
Sunset Cocktails at the Rum Bar: Over 100 Caribbean rums; ask the bartender for a guidance session rather than ordering from the menu
Virtuoso Perks When You Book Through Us: Daily breakfast for two, a $100 resort credit, a complimentary room upgrade subject to availability upon arrival, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability, and a welcome amenity from the property.
3. Malliouhana, Auberge Resorts Collection, Anguilla
Malliouhana sits on a promontory between Meads Bay and Turtle Cove, elevated enough that nearly every room faces open water in two directions. The Auberge Resorts Collection reimagined the property in 2014 toward something more refined: cream and stone and natural linen, louvered shutters, and an infinity pool that appears to dissolve into the bay below. With 44 rooms, staff know you by name by the second morning and the restaurant, Cipriani at Malliouhana, brings a Venetian culinary lineage to local Anguillian ingredients.
Why We Recommend It:
Beachfront Suites: Direct bay view from a private terrace; closest to the sound and smell of the water of any room category
Oceanview Suites: Catch a natural cross-breeze in the afternoon; the more livable layout for couples spending meaningful time in the room
Boutique scale: Special requests, private promontory dinners, cellar vintages, morning terrace baskets, handled as normal extensions of the stay
Experiences We Suggest:
The Promontory Sunset: Two chairs, a bottle of Champagne at 5:45 PM, the sun setting over open water directly in front of the main terrace
Cipriani's Chef's Table Dinner: Private kitchen table for two with a menu built around the morning market; available most evenings with advance coordination
Morning Snorkel at Turtle Cove: Calm water, structured reef, sea turtles reliably present before 9 AM; the least-known and most rewarding snorkeling site in the area
Virtuoso Perks When You Book Through Us: Daily breakfast for two, a $100 resort credit, a complimentary room upgrade subject to availability upon arrival, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability, and a welcome amenity from the property.
4. Zemi Beach House, LXR Hotels & Resorts, Anguilla
Zemi Beach House occupies Shoal Bay East, arguably the finest beach on the island, and we use that designation carefully. LXR Hotels & Resorts, Hilton's ultra-luxury independent collection, has positioned Zemi as a wellness-forward property with a spa program more developed than most Anguilla resorts, a hydrotherapy circuit, and a culinary philosophy anchored in clean, local ingredients. The tone is relaxed without being casual, social without being loud, and the Spa and Wellness Center is the most comprehensive on the island.
Why We Recommend It:
Beachfront Suites: Most direct access to Shoal Bay East of any hotel on the island; terrace steps lead essentially to the sand
Garden Suites: Quieter and more private than the beachfront categories; positioned away from the social pool area
Zemi Spa and Wellness Center: Hydrotherapy circuit, steam room, plunge pool, and experience showers included with any treatment booking
Experiences We Suggest:
Snorkeling off Shoal Bay East: Reef accessible directly from the beach; parrotfish, angelfish, occasional rays, among the best shore snorkeling in the Leewards
Zemi Spa Couples Journey: Two-hour program through body scrub, wrap, massage, and facial; book the first or second morning when the sensory reset is most welcome
Sunset at Madeariman Beach Bar: Rum punches, live music on Fridays, and the full sweep of Shoal Bay catching the last light
Virtuoso Perks When You Book Through Us: Daily breakfast for two, a $100 resort credit, a complimentary room upgrade subject to availability upon arrival, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability, and a welcome amenity from the property.
5. Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club
Aurora Anguilla is the island's most comprehensive resort, built around an 18-hole Greg Norman-designed golf course, the only full-length course on the island, an on-site hydroponic farm supplying the kitchen with produce harvested that morning, and a spa anchored in native Anguillian botanicals. The suites and villas are among the most generously scaled accommodations in Anguilla, positioned on Rendezvous Bay with a long calm beach and a distant view of St. Maarten. This is a resort with genuine room to exhale.
Why We Recommend It:
Oceanfront Villas: Freestanding with private pools and outdoor showers; designed for couples who will use the villa as a base for the full week
Golf Villa Suites: Elevated fairway views with Rendezvous Bay beyond; ideal if either partner plays
Hydroponic Farm Dinner Experience: Private dinner for two using ingredients harvested that morning, served in the farm garden at dusk; unique to Aurora on the island
Experiences We Suggest:
Sunrise Round of Golf: 6:30 AM tee time; back nine runs along the coastline with open water visible on three holes
Aurora Spa Native Botanical Journey: Treatment protocol using sea lavender, soursop, and frangipani developed with local botanists; the most authentically Anguillian spa experience on the island
Farm-to-Table Private Cooking Class: Half-day tour of the hydroponic farm ending with a lunch you prepared yourself; a genuine education, not a tourism performance
Virtuoso Perks When You Book Through Us: Daily breakfast for two, a $100 resort credit, a complimentary room upgrade subject to availability upon arrival, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability, and a welcome amenity from the property.
Getting Around Anguilla
The best way to get around Anguilla is by car. There are several car rental companies on the island which start as low as $50 / day. Taxis are also available, but they can be expensive (minimum fare is usually $20-25/way). Your rental car can be pre-arranged and delivered to your hotel or the ferry terminal for when you arrive so you can immediately start your adventure.

Are Anguilla Resorts All-Inclusive?
None of the six properties in this guide operate as traditional all-inclusive resorts, and this is worth addressing directly. The all-inclusive format appeals to travelers who want cost certainty and no decision-making; that is a legitimate preference. What it typically cannot deliver is the culinary quality of an independent restaurant whose reputation depends on each individual plate.

FAQs
-
Anguilla is known primarily for three things: the quality of its beaches (Shoal Bay East regularly ranks among the top beaches in the Caribbean), its concentration of genuine luxury resorts, and a restaurant scene that punches well above the island's size. It is a British Overseas Territory with no cruise ship terminal and no casino, which has kept the island unusually quiet by Caribbean standards.
-
St. Barts has a more social, fashion-conscious energy: yacht culture, designer shopping, and a scene that rewards being seen. Anguilla is quieter, more private, and in our view offers better beaches and better value at the luxury level. Many clients do both on a single trip, which we arrange seamlessly through St. Maarten.
-
For the broadest amenity set, the Four Seasons is the most consistent choice. For architecture and culinary programming, Cap Juluca is unmatched on the island. For maximum privacy, Quintessence's ten suites deliver an experience that larger properties cannot replicate. All six hotels in this guide are Virtuoso properties with complimentary perks when booked through us.
